Nature Path Poggio Barile

All of the path (9 km) is easily approachable by walking, riding or biking.

The route is indicated by the way with blue conventional signs. It starts from farmhouse called Poggio Barile, where today the farm Scambia resides, famous for its cellers and vines.

Going on the Val di Paglia road until the Molino farmhouse near to River, walking on the left side, the landscape is coverd with a wood where the tipical Mediterranean plants are mixed with a thousand of colors tipical of the area.

From Poggio della Guardia it going to Fornaccio farm where the route bicomes harder until coming to the old Meana village, dated X Century a.c.. Here it was built San Nicola Church 1275 adorned with beautiful frescos and original furnitures.

Up here it is possible to go to a small wood where the the flora has baried almost totally the old Medieval village; in addition it is possible to admire all around a large panorama view on Allerona, a Medieval town, surrounded from woods and valleys flowed through Paglia River.

From Meana it is possible to go down quickly to poggio Barile, start point, or it is possible to continue from Meana to Casabruciata farm where in the luxuriant green and yellow, brooms and junipers germinate; moreover, here,it easy meet fawn, roe-deer and weasels.
